ACHIEVING LIFE GOALS
When we think about goals or dreams, the first thing that comes to mind would be, “Have I accomplished my New Year’s resolutions yet? Where’s that list?” And more often than not, a number of those resolutions end up repeating itself in the following years.
While it is good to have goals and dreams, it is equally important to MAKE IT HAPPEN!
So here are some quick tips to help you stay on track, and cross off a few goals this year:
It all starts with a (realistic) plan.
Everyone has a goal in mind that they want to achieve, be it an academic-related goal or simply getting started on something you’ve always wanted to do. If we want to strive towards reaching THAT goal, we should always have a game plan in mind and persevere through until your end goal is accomplished. For instance, if your ambition is to be a pilot, you have to put in the effort and work hard in the necessary subjects to turn that ambition into reality.
Believe
“Believe in yourself and you’re halfway there,” – Theodore Roosevelt
A positive mindset plays a key factor in reaching your goals. There may be challenges and obstacles that get in the way of achieving our goals, but never let it stop you from achieving what you want at the end of the day and remember – always look on the bright side. Self-belief leads you to be more confident of yourself and brings you one step further to striking that goal off your list.
Identify a good support system
Friends, family or loved ones will always be the ones by your side, cheering you on your journey as YOU strive to achieve your goals. Remember to surround yourself with people that are able to encourage you with positivity. For instance, parents should support their children in both learning and their personal interests through constantly encouraging them to pursue what they enjoy doing. Particularly when a child faces challenges or a stumbling block, it’s important for parents to practice positive communication techniques to further boost their motivation and confidence in order for them to reach their goals at the end of the day.
All in all, goals equal hard work and it isn’t achieved just by thinking about it. There will be challenges and setbacks and these will in turn give us the experience that we need and shape our character to be resilient as we press forward. So step out of your comfort zone and be brave.
